John Lennon Caricature

John Lennon

John Lennon

John Ono LennonMBE, born John Winston Lennon (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician, singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a founder member of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Together with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.

Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved as a teenager in the skiffle craze; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. As the group disintegrated towards the end of the decade, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albumsJohn Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as “Give Peace a Chance” and “Imagine“. After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to devote time to raising his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double FantasyHe was murdered three weeks after its release.

Lennon revealed a rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music, writing, drawings, on film and in interviews. Controversial through his political andpeace activism, he moved to New York City in 1971, where his criticism of the Vietnam War resulted in a lengthy attempt by Richard Nixon‘s administration to deport him, while some of his songs were adopted as anthems by the anti-war movement.

As of 2012 Lennon’s solo album sales in the United States exceed 14 million units, and as writer, co-writer or performer, he is responsible for 25 number-one singles on the US Hot 100 chart. In 2002 a BBC poll on the 100 Greatest Britons voted him eighth, and in 2008, Rolling Stone ranked him the fifth-greatest singer of all-time. He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

KARIKATYUR for Mother’s Day

Mother’s day is one the most celebrated occasion in the shopping malls. It is just right  for them to pamper moms- after all, they are the decision maker when it comes to shopping and spending.

It was a busy weekend, People are rejoicing over Pacman’s victory over Mosley and families are celebrating the day. Different gimmicks are on every corner. There was a free face spa  and a free back massage inside a fast food chain. Yes weird as it may sound – while they are munching on their burger a masseuse crunches the painful muscles on their back. talk about spoiling your mom hehe

In the past years that I have been organizing professional sketch artists to grace events, clients would usually call in early to close this date for them. This year, my drawing team  entertained mothers in  two branches of Rustan’s Supermarket and in a program held by Baby Looney Tunes at SM City North Edsa. Mothers were rewarded with their sketches after purchasing products from our clients.

Here are some of the snapshots from the events:

Elver fulfills a mother's wish to become sultry and sexy again just like the old days.

Mang Ed wows a young mom with his swift strokes and hatches. He has been creating amazing portraits for the past 50 years

It was already 8PM but the team of sketch artists are still busy entertaing guests. They agreed to stay overtime due to popular demand.

The faces are sketched over pre drawn bodies. The guests would simply sit in front of the artists and choose a template of their choice. They may choose from the following: Gourmet Mom, Diva Mom, Sweet Mom, Rookie Mom and Natural Mom

It was there that he first witnessed the effect of HIV on the queer community, which eventually led to his reproductive health activism in the Philippines. Carlos Celdran is an activist for HIV/AIDS awareness and reproductive health, organizing and appearing at events to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and reproductive health in the Philippines. On September 30, 2010, Carlos Celdran staged a protest action against Church opposition to the reproductive health bill. Dressed as José Rizal, Celdran entered Manila Cathedral during a mass, carrying a sign and shouting “Stop getting involved in politics!” before he was taken away by the police. Once outside the cathedral, Celdran told reporters that Church officials “need to hear what the Filipinos are saying: that 90 percent of the people want the RH [Reproductive Health Bill].” He was charged by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines with “offending religious feelings.”
